There are few who would argue that good health is one of the most precious and valuable things one can have. Through all of the discussions and arguments about the current state of health care, there is something much deeper here to look at.
What if you already have the ability to heal yourself? Actually, you do. All healing is self healing. You decide to heal, and then it becomes possible for you to heal. Your healing is not bestowed upon you by doctors, healing experts, and so on, outside of yourself.
Yes, your body needs validation: it needs good food, nutrients, rest, happiness. Good healers, dentists, massage therapists, doctors, are welcome and needed. Exercise is necessary, as are happy thoughts, and feeling valued and loved.
Many people constantly push their body, trying to get it to jump through more hoops and go go go! without stopping to listen to that body or give to it what it needs. Then they wonder why they are tired all the time, or can’t seem to heal. Some people blame their body for being sick, and get angry at it. They are at war with their body. This only makes things worse – there is no winning this war.
Healing yourself begins with listening to and loving your own body. Being kind to this amazing and miraculous creation will help it, and you, to heal. Your body may be affected by energies that can become harmful if held onto: fear, invalidation, unhappiness, resistance, stress, anger. By listening to your own body, by valuing the wisdom of the body, you can begin to take the kinds of actions needed to help you be healthier. You can begin to safely let go of the energies that harm you and your body.
If you are at odds with your body and feel like it is a burden that you drag around, you will find it more difficult to create your life to be what it is you would like it to be. So this goes far beyond health on all levels – it goes to the very core of creating the kind of life you want to call your own.
Perhaps you have forgotten that you have this power. It’s never too late to remember it again, to begin to heal yourself. Try it today with this simple exercise: sit in a comfortable chair with your feet flat on the floor, close your eyes, and allow yourself to simply be. Say hello to your body, without judging it. Accept your body, exactly as it is. Ask it how it is doing, and listen for the answer. Then ask your body what it would like from you, and again listen. Let your body know you will be listening to it more often.
If you practice this simple exercise often, just listening to your body, you can begin to understand it better, and to start your own healing reform within yourself.
