Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to give up your space to the world outside of yourself.
It is certainly true that your world, the one you chose to be born into at this specific time, has a great effect on you. You wanted it to, which is why you’re here now.
However, you may have forgotten that you decided to show up at this moment. You may have believed the untruth that it’s all a toss of the dice, and that your life is out of your control, that you really don’t have any power. You may have been told that the powers that be are just too strong, and have all the cards. Don’t fight city hall, and all that nonsense.
It’s easy to believe these negative statements, especially living in the year 2010, with massive unemployment, a rapidly deteriorating environment, and no end in sight to the many constantly prevalent wars on the planet. When less than 1% of the population in the U.S. controls the lion’s share of the wealth, owns the news media, and is quickly gaining control over the food supply, one could start to feel a bit pessimistic about one’s chances of living a healthy and happy life. It’s easy to allow yourself to get stuck in feeling like a victim at such a time.
Here’s the kicker: true power isn’t power over others, but power over yourself. The abilities to see, know, heal, forgive, love, and choose your own actions, are not out of your control, unless you decide to give them up. People who are looking to find their power within themselves are rarer than those hoping to grab some of the power they see whipping around in the outside world.
If you master the inside, it is very difficult for any outside influences to have much control over you. If Nelson Mandela had allowed his wrongful imprisonment at the hands of a repressive and brutal racist regime to destroy him, we wouldn’t have his inspiring example to look to now. Mandela is but one example of the many that exist. You may not see them or hear about many of them from the mainstream news, but they are real nonetheless.
It is up to you to decide to become conscious, and still retain a positive, forgiving attitude. You chose to be here now, at this time of great challenges and great awakening, for a reason. Do you know what that is yet?
