Say yes! to Peace in 2012

I’ve often said that I don’t predict the future because I find it pointless to do so. We are each able to take part in the creating of our future, individually and together, by becoming conscious and making our choices accordingly.

As 2011 wraps up its final moments, here are some important energies I see as 2012 moves into view. Happy New Year to you!

1. Peace – We are all improvisers in the art of life. The first rule of improvisation is to say ‘yes, and’. In 2012, it will become even more important that we consciously say yes to peace, to cultivating peace, and to having a peace consciousness. It’s obvious that war is extremely profitable for some. Let’s show that peace is an even more valuable commodity for all the rest of us here on earth. What do we gain from peace? Priceless things, like getting to know each other better, and creating a new happier healthier world together, to start. Peace will be one of the biggest energies to become aware of in 2012. It all begins within each of us.

2. Community – As 2011 showed the world, we are stronger when we cooperate together. Working together, people can create massive social change, without lobbyists,  expensive advertising agencies, or violence. All it takes is waking up and seeing clearly, which was another gift 2011 gave to us. After we begin to see each other in a new way, we can work to create what we do want here on earth.

3. Truth – By now it should be obvious that nobody is going to get away with telling lies anymore, at least not for long. The truth is coming out faster than ever, and truths thought long buried are surfacing. This is true not only on a global level, but deep within each of us as well. If you’ve been lying to yourself, even unconsciously so, that energy no doubt surfaced in the past year or two. Now is the time to move ahead with your own truth. Your truth includes being able to listen to and follow your own heart, which is going to be even more important in 2012.

4. Creativity – ‘Necessity is the mother of invention’ is how the old saying goes. Creativity will become even more valuable in 2012 as we are called on to recreate our world. Those who can visualize and imagine will be at the forefront of the new creations. The new pictures are already here, with many more on the way. Creativity includes every other energy on this list. If you’ve been unable to validate your own creativity, now is the time to learn how to do so.

5. MeditationMeditation is a tool that pays off in very big ways, even when you only have a few minutes a day to practice it. You can take it with you anywhere you go, it needs no special equipment, and helps you to learn things you can’t learn anywhere else. It’s well worth taking the time to learn how to meditate, because then you have it for life. Your health, emotions, sense of peace and well being, and body will all benefit from this practice. Find out about my meditation classes and recordings here.

6. Clairvoyance – Clairvoyance was at the top of my list for 2011, and continues to rise in importance as we human beings evolve. The ‘art of seeing clearly’ is what clairvoyance is all about. And if you are able to see yourself clearly, so much the better. You can read much more about this very human spiritual ability in the many posts on this blog about clairvoyance and being psychic.

7. Letting go – Traveling lightly, dropping your burdens, not needing to carry a load of stuff with you as you move forward in your life. What is it you insist upon carrying that makes it difficult for you to step ahead into your life as you want to live it? Though the years 2009-2011 helped us all to let go of much, there’ll be more of that in 2012. Whether it’s a way of living, an old belief or picture you have of yourself that’s not accurate, or a grudge you’ve held onto tightly, it’s all in the letting go that healing happens.

8. Self Healing – Though it seems strange to say so, one of the biggest healings we’ve had in the U.S. has been our decaying and horrid health care system, complete with the rampant greed of the insurance and pharmaceutical industries. ‘Better living through chemicals’ isn’t, and being without insurance has driven many people to the edge of despair, especially when they or a loved one became ill with a serious illness. Through all of this terrible pain and destruction, people have begun waking up to the power they have within to heal, and to the many modalities available to do just that. From the common sense approach to using food as medicine and prevention, which the AMA and other so called ‘authorities’ refuse to even consider as viable, to other alternative ways to create healing – a new way of healing is being born. Look for much more of this in 2012.

9. Love – All you need is love. Love becomes a way of living, healing, creating, growing, transforming our lives, if we only give it the space to exist and grow.

10. Consciousness – The grounding for all of the rest of what it is possible to make real is becoming conscious. Becoming conscious takes courage, and a willingness to see, hear, and know. Many times when unconsciousness rules the day, we create events in order to wake up. Some of these happenings or events may not be comfortable, but they certainly do serve the purpose of waking us up. Deciding to be conscious is a lot more fun, and a lot easier than allowing oneself to be shaken awake. Why not make consciousness one of your key words for 2012?

May 2012 be a beautiful year for you!

This is the post I wrote exactly one year ago today about 2011: ‘Clairvoyance tops the list for 2011’.

Scan Me!

This is a guest post by Tara Lisciandro-Hornich

When I was 14 I had my first (and last) summer camp experience. I don’t truly know why I went there that summer – but  I do think it had something to do with a certain boy whom my parents weren’t too crazy about!  There are a few things I remember about the camp, and it was a beautiful place, set up in some mountains in PA. We hiked and canoed. I helped little kids learn how to swim and care for horses – two things I was very good by that age. There was a farm, we picked and ate fresh foods and even decorated our cabins with fresh flowers. It was a little slice of heaven, as they say. There were also Beth and Tom, honestly, I don’t remember their real names, I saw them once, that was it, but the work they did with us that day has remained with me for all of these years.

“Ok, today we’re going to take a full  body scan. Find a blanket and lie down, please.” Beth and Tom were young, probably college students. There were about 10 of us there that day-all chatty, giggly, little teeny-bopper campers.  They had us lie on a cabin floor and guided us through a meditation and full body scan – two things I had never heard of. “You need to be quiet and try to keep  your eyes closed. If you fall asleep it’s ok, you may get very relaxed,” they told us. “Ha! quiet? US? This is going to be interesting,” I thought to myself.

First we were guided into a short meditation. I don’t recall much of it, but it felt quite nice! Then, we were “awakened” a bit and told to curl up our toes as tight as we could. “What?!,” I worried to myself, “I’m so relaxed, I feel so good! why would I want to do this to myself now?! Beth and Tom are nuts!” But, I followed along, I was always good at following directions. “Now, breathe in, feel your toes, and breathe out, release your toes. Let them go. Wiggle them around. How does that feel?” AHHHH! “WOAH! That felt SO good!” I answered out LOUD. I couldn’t help it, they asked the question.

Tom and Beth continued to move throughout our entire body, having us tense up a certain muscle area, breathe, recall the feeling, then breathe out and release. Let go. I will never forget the blanket I was lying on or how the body scan felt – simply amazing. Not one of us spoke afterwards. It was as if we were in this cloud, floating , relaxed and happy. There were truly no words for the pure bliss we had just been exposed to.

I had never been taught anything like that before, and, sadly, I wouldn’t have the opportunity to meet up with it again until almost after my college years.  Finally, I  was reunited with things like meditation, yoga, breath work.  I found NIA , an amazing dance flow and Reiki. I’ve become a collector of healing arts. I’ve learned how to meditate while walking. And, of course, I use the body scan, the same one I learned as a young camper, almost daily.

Body scans can be done in a variety of ways. However, the most simple way is to lie down in a comfortable, quiet area and start with your feet and work your way up. Tense and flex your muscles, one at a time, feel your muscles and note any sensations that accompany the movement. Breathe. Then, relax your muscle, breathe out , let go, release and move on. You may want to journal any unique or unusual sensations that you find during your scan afterwards. Making a daily practice out of this can produce amazing results in your health and physical appearance, energy, attitude and awareness.

Be well, go scan & let go.

Change your energy and change your life

You are made of energy. Every part of you is energy: body and spirit. Your intellect, emotions, creativity, abilities, and all the rest, are energy.

There’s energy in everything you do, say, feel, and decide to have. The way you communicate with the world around you has a certain energy. Your creative expression, your personal taste, your relationships with others, your health, finances, you name it – all have energy.

Everyone else has their own energy too, different from yours. We are each unique, each of us has a distinctive energy. This is one good reason why each of us is valuable, why we are all needed and wanted here. You came to this lifetime to bring something, and you give valuable gifts to everyone when you learn how to become who you truly are. You don’t need to match to or become, anyone else.

When you know and have your own true energy working for you, you can have your life the way you want it much more effortlessly. If you have been challenged, if it’s been hard to know who you are, if you feel overwhelmed and inundated by the energy of others, you can change this.

By becoming aware of energy, and especially your own, you change the energy that you are in, and the energy that is in you. You can start to make your own energy the most important energy inside of you. After all, your energy is intended to be with you, not scattered all about in everyone else’s space. When more of your own energy is inside of you and validated, creating your own life becomes more fun and less effort to do.

Having meditation as a regular part of your life can really get things rolling in the right direction for you. When you commit to a regular meditation practice, you are in effect saying to yourself that you want to become more conscious and present. The present time is where your body is, and the more of your energy you can bring here to be with your body, the easier things get.

Communication Nation

This is a guest post by Debra Taitel.

The very first words spoken on the telephone by Alexander Graham Bell to his assistant in 1876 were “Mr. Watson, come here I need you.”

In 1928 my Grandfather, Maurice Bank, completed a design for the first two-way speaker system then invented and held the first patent for the intercom in 1933.  “Press a button and you’re there” was the ad. These things along with many others were invented to make communication easier and more efficient. Of course, we’ve come a long way since then. Now if you need someone or something, you simply send a text from your phone! Our world has truly become one big communication nation.

Although we have the ability to connect and communicate with people in ways we never thought possible this has also moved our attention and focus outside of ourselves. We have become a world nation of “first responders” instead of responding to ourselves first! Yes, communication is easier but we are now more disconnected than ever. There are more filters in place and it is easy to misunderstand someone or be misunderstood. With so much of our time communicating through something else we have moved away from our most valuable connection; the connection that creates body/spirit communication.

When was the last time you said “Hello” to yourself and asked YOU how you are doing? The simple act of saying hello to yourself  opens a line of communication within. It starts a process of you discovering who you really are. When you  acknowledge yourself as spirit, you pave the way to give and receive a spirit to spirit hello from others! The best way I know to begin re-connecting is with meditation.

Meditation is a time for you to communicate with YOU.  It’s about re-booting, so to speak; separating from those other things shouting for your attention and discovering not only what your spirit wants you to know but what your body needs. It is a time to connect to and be in communication with the earth and the God of your heart. A time to connect with your body. A time to listen quietly for the messages you receive on a daily basis. How you communicate with others is directly related to how you communicate with yourself. Can you hear you? Do you take time out of your day to find out how you are and what YOU need? If you ever have communication challenges with others, take a moment to look at how you are communicating with yourself.

It is said that necessity is the mother of invention but to be in communication with YOU there is nothing to invent! There are no filters, no waiting for response, nothing to buy, no misunderstandings. There is however, clarity, awareness and a sense of peace.  All that is necessary is for you to turn you attention within. Think of it this way; no one has ever said it’s dangerous to have clarity, awareness and a sense of peace while driving.  .~Shine Your Light Debbie

The value of a daily meditation habit

If you are looking for one good habit to add to your life, try meditating regularly. You’ll benefit in more ways than you might imagine you can from such a simple practice.

A grounded meditation practice will help you to know who you are and where you’re at. If you’ve been running and running, and expect to continue doing so every day, meanwhile fueling yourself on caffeine, stress, guilt, worry, or some other toxic energy, your body and health will suffer. You will lose your precious energy by treating yourself this way. It can be much harder for you to create what it is you want if you don’t have enough energy or space to do so.

You can try something different today. Or tomorrow, or anytime. There is never a bad time to begin to meditate, and every time you do it helps you to do it again. If you practice grounding as part of your meditation, you have a way to release all of those toxic energies you’ve been taking on.

If you think you’re already too busy and don’t have the time to begin doing this, if you just can’t see adding one more thing to your list, consider this. The time you spend meditating will pay off in big ways, and in parts of your life you may not even imagine it doing so.

Meditation can help you to do the following: gain perspective, calm down, sleep better, let go, hear yourself, value your body, have more energy, heal yourself, think more clearly, create your new creations, manifest, let go of pain, enjoy being in the moment, be able to be present, hear music clearly, have more fun.

It also helps you to: come back to your senses, know yourself, give yourself permission to stop constantly doing, trust yourself, feel your feelings, know your own thoughts, ground yourself, communicate with the earth, become aware of your body, find peace within, relax, know what’s truly important to you. You may not be aware of the vast riches to be found within yourself, until you begin looking for them.

Meditation is not perfect, doesn’t need to be practiced perfectly, and you don’t need to be perfect to practice it. All you need to do is begin. Do it on your own, find a teacher, listen to a cd, create your own practice. There is no one right way to meditate. The trick is just to start.

Is your own truth real?

Even when others can’t, or won’t, validate your truth, is it still real?

Do you need your truth to be understood and agreed to by others? Can you have knowing it for yourself alone? Can you have your own version of life without needing a group consensus?

You might have a different way of seeing choices, challenges, and opportunities, than anyone else you grew up with. You might see the cup as full already, with endless opportunities to have even more of what you want. Your father might look at it as being selfish or asking for too much, while your friend might see it as impossible, your mother thinks it should all be shared, and your third grade teacher thought it was better to always follow the rules. Which version is correct? Which one should you line up to? And, if you don’t follow other’s rules about what’s real, are you wrong?

Nobody else really knows what it takes for you to be you. Remember that you don’t completely understand what it takes for them to be them, either. We each have a unique spirit, a unique energy. You are one of a kind, and so is everyone else.

Not everyone is comfortable being one of a kind. If you are truly unique, you might stand out, and then you will Be Seen. Are you safe enough for this? Do you even want it? You’ve made choices throughout your life because of this, consciously or not.

If you’re confident that you are safe enough to be seen, yet aren’t getting what you want, it’s time to ask yourself if perhaps you’ve taken on someone else’s desire to remain hidden. In other words, if you need to heal others and be responsible for keeping them safe, this tendency may be getting in your way.

If you try to step out into the limelight and this energy is in your space, others won’t be safe about you being seen. Your self image may have been partly about keeping them safe and protected. If you see yourself as a star, it’s time to become conscious about the other energies you are allowing to hold you back. Only you can decide to change those agreements, move the energy out of your space, and go out and get what you want to have.

If you feel guilty every time you succeed because your friend isn’t having the same success, or your family is struggling, your version of reality is once again clashing with other people’s versions. This doesn’t make your version selfish or wrong. Your job is to succeed – at being you.

Everything happens in the present time

It isn’t happening yesterday, and it’s not tomorrow yet. What is happening is doing so now, in this moment.

Some event may have happened yesterday that is affecting this moment now. As a matter of fact, every event that happened yesterday does affect now. Every choice made, every word said, every thought, is having its effect on you in this moment. Whatever you chose: from the food you ate to the quality of sleep you had last night, to whether you’ve been able to let go of stress and worries, and so on.

You are reading this article now. While doing so, you may be thinking about what is going to happen 5 minutes from now, or have your energy still in an event from last year. The only time you can actually be reading is right now. In this moment, you are breathing, your heart is beating, your eyes are blinking. With no effort on your part whatsoever, your body is doing its thing, in present time.

Your body is always in the present. You the spirit have the capability to be in endless places at once. Your energy can be in your childhood, your present job, any of your past relationships, out in the future, on the astral plane, with a friend, to name a few.

The more of you that is able to be here in present time, with your body, the richer your experience. The more present you are, the more real things can be for you. When your spirit is in friendly communication with your body, it’s easier to create more of what you want, effortlessly.

Sometimes you might leave your energy somewhere else because you went through something difficult, and it hasn’t been safe to bring yourself back again. Or you might be so busy that you leave your energy everywhere, only stopping to collect yourself back again when you get sick, or because you are exhausted.

The only time in which you can create is now. In order to create anything, you need enough energy to do so. If your energy is stuck all over time, it’s not available for you. There are easier ways to stay in the present time, and here are a few of them.

  • Remember to speak kindly to your body. It has much valuable information for you. However, in order to access that information, you will need to have kind communication with yourself. If you make your body wrong, it will be difficult for you to be in it.
  • Meditation will help you to find yourself, become aware of your energy, and bring it back into present time, in a safe and validating way. Grounding yourself is especially helpful.
  • Forgiveness will help you safely pull your energy out of a past time situation in which you were hurt in some way. If you can forgive all parties involved, especially yourself, you’ll be more present now. This is a choice.
  • Let go of trying to solve anything that happened that you had no control over. This includes people. If you’re still solving and fixing, you won’t be here now, creating what you really want.
  • Give yourself time off to play. No matter what is happening in your life, make sure you get time for yourself. Give to your body, take yourself out for fun with friends, or by yourself. Drop the responsibility, let go of the demands.

Every moment brings another opportunity to become present. Every moment brings another choice with it.
