A gift of peace for you

In honor of the Season of Peace, I’ve created a free guided meditation for my many friends, fans, readers, and students.

It’s called ‘A Meditation On Becoming Peace’, and you can find it on my website, KrisCahill.com, in today’s post. Click here to find it.

Find a comfy spot to sit and listen, settle in, and enjoy! This is a 20 minute guided meditation, recorded at the studio of a good friend of mine, Amadaes Baj. More information about this recording is listed on my website.

Please feel free to share this with your friends. I’d also love to know if you listened, and how that was for you. You can leave me a comment about your experience if you choose.

I wish you peace, from the inside out!

Here is a list of posts on this blog about meditation.

Do you have to choose between freedom and approval?

Are you torn between choosing to have what you want, and needing to have others approve of you?

When you don’t have the freedom to choose to create or have what you truly want, you might be giving up your space to fears that others won’t like you if you do the things you really want to do.

If you’re afraid you’ll anger someone or hurt their feelings if you change, you are allowing your need for their approval to control you. You cannot blame somebody else for this. It’s within your power to change it, not theirs.

If you’ve allowed others to have power over you, that again isn’t their problem to solve. It’s yours. If you need others to approve of you living your life the way you see fit, and if you won’t make a move without their permission, you have nobody else to blame when you don’t get what you want.

You don’t have to make your life a democracy in which everyone else gets a vote on what can happen in your life. You may have been trying to be very nice, and to not create conflicts with others who think they know exactly who you are and what you should do. So, to keep the peace, you hold back, waiting for others to sign on to the idea of you having your own life. Perhaps you spend a lot of your energy helping them out, and they just don’t know what they would do without you! You end up feeling guilty at the thought of not being there for everyone else, and your life becomes all about keeping it together for them.

Meanwhile, what you see is possible for you, and the things you want in your life, don’t go away. You have a conflict in your space between what you think you should do, and what you really want to do.

A good dose of truth within yourself will go far in helping you to change the patterns of not making your life your own. By becoming honest with yourself, you can see yourself and your dreams more clearly. If you have no support for your dreams in your personal world, and are expected to give your energy away so that others can achieve theirs, maybe you want to change that.

If you decide that approving of yourself and being happy with who you are mean more to you than winning any popularity contests, you’re well on the way to creating your life from a place of inner freedom. This is your true job in this lifetime.

Self healing your way to freedom

Is there anything better than feeling well, happy, and enthusiastic about your life?

Is good health worth more to you than money, power, or prestige? Financial wealth doesn’t guarantee you’ll be healthy, and it’s difficult to enjoy it freely if you’re not feeling well, isn’t it?

It all begins with energy, spirit. Good health, illness, enthusiasm, joy, happiness, depression – all begin with energy.

Every disease, illness and imbalance that shows up in the body, began as energy. Everything you manifest physically, started in your spirit. Healing begins in the spirit, and so does illness. When your spirit is well and healthy, your body can heal. Heal the spirit, and the spirit can heal the body.

The better the communication is between your body and spirit, the easier it is to create health for yourself, on all levels of being. If you want to heal yourself deeply, learn the difference between your energy and other energy. Your own energy is unique to you, not duplicated anywhere else. When you know the difference between what is yours and what isn’t, you can make choices that create health, and a deeper sense of freedom within yourself.

Often people create illness or disease in order to learn this difference. Stressful energies can create an imbalance in the body. When you’re running anxiety, invalidation, and other people’s pain through yourself, your body will be affected. Your energy level, freedom to create, ability to be safe enough to do what you want to do, and more, will all be controlled by the kind of energy running through you at any given time.

When you are conscious of, and able to have your own energy within you, it’s easier for you to create what it is you want to have in your life. If, on the other hand, you’re running on guilt, over responsibility, and invalidation, it’s going to be hard to create anything for yourself. You’ll be driven to respond to those energies, and may end up using your energy to create things you don’t really want.

When you begin to see this clearly for yourself, you can decide to change it. Making any change for the better also begins within your spirit. You decide to change, and change can happen as a result. You decide to heal, and you can heal. You decide you’d prefer to be free, and you can have freedom.

Guilt: the gift that keeps on giving

It’s time for another edition of Psychic Question Monday. Today’s question is inspired by an uncomfortable energy each of us has dealt with in our lives: Guilt.

I feel so guilty all of the time. How do I get over that? Where does that come from?

Guilt is an energy, and it can really put a damper on you enjoying your life. If you are swimming in a sea of guilt, and you aren’t actually guilty of committing heinous acts, such as flooding a beautiful ocean with toxic chemicals, or refusing to pass common sense legislation that will allow people to have health care as a human right, you may be handling some judgment about how you go about living your life and making your choices.

Guilt can control you in every way possible: what you are able to have, how much you can have, how successful you can be, how healthy, what you can say to others, whether you can enjoy the life you’ve created – can all be determined by whether you feel it’s okay to have any of these things.

Guilt makes honest people into liars: I would have said how I really feel but I felt guilty for feeling that way. Does this sound familiar?

Guilt as an energy has no solution. It is a nagging control that wants to be solved, yet can’t be. The only real solution for guilt is to learn how to let it go.

You may be suffering from the effects of guilt if you: feel bad about having something someone else doesn’t, feel terrible because you are enjoying your life, or having success, and others are not. Some people close to you may just not be happy, and if you are, you may be handling judgment about that.

No matter how caring, concerned, talented, skillful, smart, or successful you are, you cannot solve the world’s problems and take away all of that pain. You can, however, learn to let it go. In doing so, you become an example to others.

It is up to each of us to learn to live more consciously. As you become more aware of your actual choices in life, you learn that some of them involve deciding to be happy, to heal yourself, and to become responsible for what it is you want in your life. You cannot make others feel and be the way you want them to, and you can’t do their work for them. You’ll just get in their way if you try.

By committing to your own healing, you become a healing for others. This is a wonderful cause for celebration!

Are you ready to be disillusioned?

That’s actually not as bad as it sounds. If you are disillusioned, it only means that you’re no longer under an illusion.

You’re able and willing to see what’s really going on. The veil has lifted, and you can see clearly now.

Becoming disillusioned, while certainly enlightening, isn’t easy. Losing one’s illusions can sometimes feel quite painful. There is a grieving to go through, especially if what you are now aware of came as a shock to you; for example, learning you’ve been lied to by someone you care about can feel like a great betrayal.

Letting go of any illusions you were under allows you to be in truth. Even when you were blissfully unaware, or so you thought, there was still the energy of a lie to get through and deal with. Some examples of this include learning after the fact that the trust you placed in authorities to protect you and your children, was not deserved by them. (See ‘The Catholic Church’, etc).

Expressions such as ‘what you don’t know won’t hurt you’ and ‘ignorance is bliss’ hint at a kind of chosen unconsciousness. They are also lies we tell ourselves in order to not have to deal with what is actually going on. Yes, the truth can hurt, but lies will hurt more, especially a mountain of them.

It takes great courage to see truth for yourself, instead of relying on others to tell you what that truth is. In order to become who you really are, you will want to welcome the energy of disillusionment into your life. A great question to ask yourself is, “what don’t I know that I don’t know?”.

The truth will set you free.
